This weekend, the streets of Downtown Roanoke will transform from the character-filled, bustling streets we know and love into a frenzy of art and creativity. We are proud to present the 60th Annual Sidewalk Art Show, which will take place this Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM each day and take over Salem Avenue, Market Street, and Wall Street with 140 incredible artists from around the country.

As one of Virginia’s oldest and most anticipated outdoor art shows, this event brings our community together to celebrate art from all backgrounds. Not only do we have a nationally recognized art museum, the Taubman Museum of Art, but more than 10 galleries thriving on our city blocks alone! Through programs like Downtown Roanoke Inc.’s Art by Night, Pop Up Art Markets through the City Market Building, and this annual event, you are never too far away from having the opportunity to be amazed by the incredible talent that comes to Southwest Virginia from near and far.

What can you expect at this year’s 60th Annual Sidewalk Art Show?

The Taubman Museum of Art has planned two amazing days of fine art and fun!

Beyond all the artists surrounding the Taubman, you can also visit the galleries inside featuring artists like Kenhide Wiley, Amy Sherald, Nick Cave, and more. New this year, the Art Show will feature fine arts students from Hollins University and Radford University. There will also be beer and wine tastings available to enjoy as you walk through the art-lined streets or relax in the sculpture garden. Even the kids can get involved in the action inside our museum by participating in The Rescue Mission of Roanoke‘s children’s drawing contest. Children who submit their drawings will be in the running to have their image featured at the Drumstick Dash this fall!

As you admire the talent on display, keep in mind that everything you see is for sale! Our sponsorship and cosponsors keep this event free so that you can use your money to support local painters, etchers, mixed media artists, photographers, and more by purchasing your favorite piece. And when you do find your favorite, be sure to stop by the HomeTown Bank tent for a ballot to cast your vote for the HomeTown Bank Community Choice Award. Voting takes place on Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM and we look forward to announcing the winner that evening.
